Keep Calm It's Only Gluten Free

Keep Calm It's Only Gluten Free
+Informal recipe

When people first hear gluten free, for some an increase of heart rate and sudden panic ensues. I am here to tell you cooking homemade gluten free food (notice i didn't say baking haha) is very easy to do!
Here are some simple guidelines to help you stay calm and collected:

-Meat in its natural state is gluten free..seasoned needs to be checked
-Rice and potatoes in themselves are gluten free as well as butter, oil, and all individual seasonings (some rubs have wheat so make sure to check)
-if it is breaded, fried with wheat things, has actual bread or noodles it is a no
-if it is fast food it is a no in general unless you want to pay premium for a patty plain with cross contaminated fries
-restaurants are a little more tricky, just ask your server for a gluten free menu. If the place has never heard of gluten free, you might be in trouble.
-Half the time it easier to just switch out wheat ingredients for gluten free ingredients than to try and look up a gluten free and dairy free recipe (they get kind of weird)
-(I recommend Pillsbury gluten free all purpose flour for all frying and substituting wheat flour (use same proportions))
-most Chinese and like cuisine except sushi are not gluten free due to soy sauce being in most of the food
-be aware of sauces and make sure to read labels
-most labels will say contain wheat if contaminated at the bottom of the label if nowhere else

Homemade gluten free is easy..they have gf noodles, soy sauce, breadcrumbs, flour in most if not all stores
Stay tuned: In future posts i will show how to survive gluten and dairy free on a budget

The Basic Gf Fried Chicken Recipe

1 package of drumsticks dipped in Pillsbury gf flour that had been seasoned with garlic powder, salt, pepper
Once canola oil is hot in the pan on medium high heat fry drumsticks until crispy Internal temperature needs to be 165
Lay on napkins and sprinkle with a pinch of salt while hot
With the leftover flour I tossed it with 2 heads of oiled and seasoned  chopped cauliflower. Place in pan on medium high in a pan with 1 to 2 teaspoons just so there is no burning.Saute till tender.
